Moors, Wood and Water

One of the things we do a lot in this family is walk… so I was pleased to see that this week’s #WASO theme was ‘where we walk’.

Today Boyo and himself went a on a walk… a 10km Beaver & Cub walk! He actually walked from another local town, along our canal to far side of our town and then back on a different route; best bits were seeing Jelly’s foster mum and going on the tramway, according to Boyo.

We live in a glorious part of the country, and have some amazing walks outside our doors. This is one of our out of the door walks…

We also regularly walk in many other local spots, the Moors, in the Woods and near the river and canal.

Walking is something that calms Boyo, and something he can be tempted into no matter what! On our worst days, a family walk can calm things, even if it’s just for the time when we are out.

So where else did my head talk me when thinking about ‘where we walk’. We walk the path of parenting two very different children, with different needs. Not least we walk the path of parenting a child with attachment difficulties. We make choices that not everyone agrees with, we make waves to find ways forward. This isn’t the path I would have chosen, but not because it is difficult (although it is) but because of the pain I see Boyo living with.
